How does Trading to The Nest Work?

At the Nest, you can trade in your old collections, singles, and sealed product for cash or store credit! Here's how it works:

We buy, sell, and trade singles from Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, YuGiOh, and Flesh & Blood. We base all of our modern pricing off of TCGplayer, and with vintage trades, we value them using several different factors to get a more accurate price.

For cash trades, we offer 50% of TCGPlayer's Market Value for Pokemon, 40% for all other TCG's, and for Store Credit, we offer 70%.

What is Store Credit?

Store Credit is credit that is saved in our store's files that can be used for any singles, snacks, and up to $5 off of tournament entry!

Trades of under 50 cards may be evaluated same-day in most scenarios.

Trades of over 50 cards may require multiple days to evaluate.

When leaving your cards for any extended amount of time, we will grab your first and last name as well as contact information. We will use that contact information to give you updates on your trade as well as our final offer.

Card Conditions are appraised per-card, which means that we will separately evaluate each card's condition based on edge-wear, surface scratches, bends and creases, foil clouding and scratching, etc.

Cards with foreign substances MUST be returned to the customer, no exceptions.

Cards in binders or sleeves will be removed from their respective locations and placed into clean penny sleeves. Please request the return of said items if you'd like to keep them. We will recycle them otherwise.

If you accept our offer, store credit will be applied to your account (you must fill out a store credit form if you've never had credit with us before): cash will be paid out same-day but is subject to limitations such as availability. An Employee can help figure out a payment plan.

If you decline our offer, all items- including binders and sleeves- will be returned to you but your cards will be removed and separate.

If you have declined our offer or have requested to pick up any items, you must pick them up within 30 days of the request. We will attempt to contact you three days in a row before we will donate them to a nonprofit organization or sell it on their behalf. It is very important to provide accurate contact information!

Evaluating Card Conditions

We grade each card individually using TCGplayer's grading guidelines. This means that a card can range from Near Mint to Damaged. Each different condition of the card has a different market value, and we have a software dedicated to finding that price quickly and accurately. Ways to Protect your Cards:

Want to keep your cards protected and in great condition? Here are some ways you can do so below!

Sleeves

Sleeving your cards right away is very important, as sleeving can protect against scratches, dirt, hair, sweat marks, etc. We recommend double sleeving to help protect against any water damage!

Binders

A good binder is a great way to protect your cards. Not only will it help keep out dust and dirt, but can keep cards organized so you don't risk losing any. Pair a sturdy binder with some great sleeves to keep your cards in their best condition!

Storage Boxes

Any type of storage or Deck box will help when protecting and organizing your cards. Plastic deck boxes like Boulders or Satin Towers will also protect against massive drops and water damage.

Top Loaders/Cases

Top Loaders and other cases like One-Touches are a fantastic way to protect your special cards, and to show them off. We use Top Loaders when shipping orders, and also use One-Touches in the store with our high end cards.

Here are some more tips for keeping your cards safe!

  • Keep open drinks and beverages away from your cards while you're playing or sorting.

  • Wash and dry your hands before cracking packs open; this will help prevent sweat marks!

  • Sleeve cards right after you purchase/open them.

  • Keep any cards out of direct sunlight for long periods of time. This can lead to warping, bending, and bleaching of the colors.
